In Our Own Voice, (IOOV) is a program that is lead by & comprised of people afflicted with mental illness in our area. The program is meant to inspire, empower, and educate all participants on the lives of those affected by mental illness and mental disorders.

The program consists of both a live two-person narrative and the showing of a DVD or VHS, followed by a time for questions and answers. The presentation is delivered in six parts: an introduction, dark days, acceptance, treatment, coping skills, and successes, hopes, and dreams.

The presentation generally lasts between fifty to seventy minutes, depending on the amount of audience interaction and questions at the end of the program.

Where Can IOOV Be Presented? In Our Own Voice has been presented to management teams, a college staff and faculty, the Wyoming Valley Aids Council, nursing students, college students, and many more throughout the Wyoming Valley. IOOV could also be a useful presentation for law enforcement, church communities, health care providers, and general audiences.
How Much Does an IOOV Presentation Cost? In Our Own Voice Presentations are free, although donations are welcome. Our goal is to educate, support, and empower, and we want to make sure that our presentation is available to all of those who are interested.
