Who are we?
NAMI PA Wilkes-Barre of Luzerne-Wyoming Counties is part of the only statewide organization comprised of family members,
individuals with mental illness/brain disorders, friends and professionals dedicated to improving the lives of, and services
to, individuals affected by a serious mental illness.

NAMI PA Wilkes-Barre Area Chapter is a non-profit self-help support group formed by concerned local people who have a relative
or friend with mental illness/brain disorder and who are united by mutual concerns and hope.

Services
SUPPORT through informal meetings of families and friends to share experiences, information, and explore possible solutions
to common problems.
EDUCATION through books, pamphlets, videos nd speakers including mental health professionals and others who have information
relative to mental illness/brain disorder.
SUPPORT RESEARCH for causes and improved treatment for these disorders.
ADVOCACY for legislation and better services for persons with mental illness/brain disorder through affiliation with the
State and National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program.
INFORMATION available to assist families in finding appropriate treatment and services for the ill family member.
Note: NAMI PA affiliates do not provide direct services to persons with mental illness/brain disorder.
